Eindhoven Airport causes delays so that travelers can catch their flight

Eindhoven Airport deliberately causes flight delays to give travelers more time to catch their flight. The reason for this is the crowds at the airport.

Since the beginning of this month, 67 percent of flights from Eindhoven airport have been delayed. This is evident from data from travel company Hopper† This puts Eindhoven Airport in third place of all European airports. That is five places above Schiphol.

According to Gijs Vrenken, spokesman for the airport, these delays are therefore deliberate. It has been extremely busy at the airport in recent weeks. The peak crowds at Eindhoven Airport will probably last until the autumn holidays. Between 20,000 and 25,000 passengers arrive and depart daily.

The queues are caused on the one hand by a shortage of staff at the airport. On the other hand, many passengers report to Eindhoven Airport much earlier than usual. According to a spokesperson, this causes the accumulation of people waiting.
