Eight homes at Varenkamp in Emmen suffered smoke and soot damage in a fire. The fire raged in a couch near a porch under an apartment complex.
It is unclear whether residents will be able to return to their homes tonight. One person was checked in hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire released a lot of smoke and also damaged a front door. Several fire brigades responded.
