The JCJ van Speijk lighthouse has reopened to the public after being closed for four years due to renovation and the corona measures. This happened yesterday at the same time as Lifeboat Day. That day is organized by the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM) to thank donors who keep the rescue work along the coast above water.

The public still managed to find their way to the viewpoint on top of the almost 200-year-old lighthouse.

The highlight for most open day visitors was a twenty-minute cruise on board the lifeboat Adriaan Hendrik. According to media partner Dune Region Central 300 donors in Egmond took advantage of this opportunity.

The ship Egmonder Pinck could be viewed in front of the maritime center on Boulevard Zuid. Inside, other emergency services presented themselves, such as the police, the Egmond fire brigade and the ambulance service. The forest rangers of the PWN were also present to talk about their work in the North Holland Dune Reserve.
