Efteling was forced to close the Fairytale Forest for some time on Sunday due to heavy snowfall. There was so much snow on the tree branches in the amusement park in Kaatsheuvel that there was a risk that they would break off. Therefore, it was not responsible for visitors to walk around, according to a spokeswoman. The situation has now improved and the forest was opened again around two o’clock.

On Sunday morning, some branches broke off from the weight of the snow.

Efteling employees made a tour of the park on Sunday afternoon to check whether the situation was safe again. By two o’clock this turned out to be the case and the Fairytale Forest opened again.

Yet many fairytale attractions are not yet accessible, reports a 112 correspondent. The path to Sleeping Beauty Castle is closed and the Gnome Village also has limited access. There are signs everywhere in the Fairytale Forest warning of slippery conditions.

It almost never happens that Efteling closes part of the amusement park to the public due to extreme weather conditions. That was the case a few years ago, also because of the snow. “The Fairytale Forest has beautiful old trees, which we maintain well. But unfortunately we cannot do anything about such a layer of snow,” says the spokeswoman.
