EDITED is collaborating with Berlin artist Fabienne Meyer, known as bings, for the limited two-part capsule “Take a Seat”.
The collection includes a sports-inspired polo shirt and a scarf in the style of a framed piece of art. Both pieces translate a recurring symbol from Bings’ artistic universe – the chair – into a wearable statement about the self-confident taking up of space by women in creative industries.
“The chair is an invitation to more women not just to symbolically demand a place at the table, but to actually take it,” says Bings. In doing so, she sees the object as an invitation, provocation and reminder to get involved, to speak up and reject the idea that there is only room for one.
Rooted in Bings’ narrative approach, characterized by eclectic compositions of everyday objects, interiors and a cinematic nostalgia, “Take a Seat” transforms a personal symbol into something wearable and communal.
To the collection
The capsule collection is based on two pieces with different energy: The polo reflects Bings’ personal uniform – classic, oversized, slightly boyish. The scarf, on the other hand, functions like a mobile work of art: framed, foldable and its effect can be changed depending on how it is worn.
The campaign was staged with direct flashlight in Bings’ studio. Color, texture and the character of the unfinished shape the imagery and reflect its creative environment. This is how “Take a Seat” becomes a common language for presence, community, and women taking more than just a seat at the table.
The “Take a Seat” mini-capsule will be available online from March 5th on the EDITED website and via About You.
