What was announced in advance on Monday has now also been sealed in writing: Edin Terzic has signed a long-term contract with Borussia Dortmund and is now officially the coach of the black and yellow again. After his signature, the new BVB coach addressed the supporters of the district club with emotional words.
Late on Tuesday afternoon, the time had come: Edin Terzic was finally able to put his name under the contract he was given. The new head coach of Borussia from Dortmund posed happily together with managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke and the new sports director Sebastian Kehl in the obligatory photos. Terzic, who had previously stepped in as Lucien Favre’s successor from the end of 2020 to summer 2021 until he was finally replaced by Marco Rose, who has since been dismissed, should now be in charge of his heart’s club until 2025.
In a video that BVB published on social media, the 39-year-old was seen touched and overwhelmed by emotions. After wiping tears from his eyes, he signed the working paper and then, in front of the camera, thanked those responsible around Watzke and Kehl for “the great trust, the great opportunity and the huge responsibility” that had been given to him became.
Then he turned directly to the BVB fans and thought of his greatest success with the Black and Yellows. “Almost a year ago we were able to celebrate the cup win,” Terzic recalled of the 2021 DFB Cup final, which his team won 4-1 against RB Leipzig.

“But it was far too quiet,” added Terzic, referring to the ghost games at the time. “Nevertheless, for me it was the best day in the life of a Borussia player,” continued the 39-year-old. Today’s day of his signature is “similarly special”.
That’s why, according to Terzic, he has a small request: “Let’s be as hungry as never before, let’s work as hard as never before, but let’s also be as positive as never before.”
But the most important thing for Terzic: “Let’s be louder than ever.” Then his heart club will one day have the chance to “celebrate like never before”. He’s “mega buck” about that.
