Eddie Vedder on Corona: “I saw my life pass before my eyes”

Eddie Vedder spoke about his unpleasant experience with the corona virus in front of a live audience. At a concert on February 25, 2022 in Los Angeles, he explained how much the moment on stage means to him and that such experiences do not come naturally to him.

After his daughter Olivia sang the song “My Father’s Daughter,” he took her aside to remind her of the special moment. “I just wanted her to take a look at this because it’s very rare. It’s incredible,” said the Pearl Jam musician. “I got COVID just before we were about to start rehearsals for these shows, about five or six weeks ago. I literally watched my life flash before my eyes.” Apparently, he also came up with a few things that he didn’t necessarily want to mention in front of his daughter. He did “some very good things” for his body that were a lot of fun. “I don’t want to go into detail – just use your imagination,” says Vedder, laughing.

But his illness felt very serious and he wasn’t sure what she would do to him. “To get through that and then be back in a room like this with so many people listening to us… it was really a gift and an honor. Thank you for listening; we are so grateful.”
