From September 5th to 7th, Ed Sheeran gave three concerts in the Düsseldorf Merkur-Spiel-Arena. The shows are part of his “+-= ÷ ×” tour.
But: Already on August 29, the world’s largest Caravan fair, which extends over ten days, also starts. Both big events overlap on the singer’s show weekend and bring enormous number of visitors to the city. So that the traffic does not collapse, the organizers have provided.
Own mobility platform developed
Around 100,000 music and caravan fans are expected on the concert weekend. As “Bild” reports, the organizer D.Live has developed a platform with “Event Mobility” that is intended for exactly such scenarios. The aim is to make the journey more efficient, sustainable and more individual.
So it should work
When buying a ticket, fans have to specify their postcode. You will then receive personalized travel recommendations. The platform calculates the ideal route, depending on the preferred means of transport, and specifically directs the main currents so that capacities are used optimally.
Parking with a system at the Ed Sheeran concert in Düsseldorf
Michael Brill von D.Live told “Bild”: “Parking spaces at walking distance to the arena will be practiced by almost all of the trade fair visitors. But there are areas that have to be cleared by the Caravan guests by 7 p.m.
In addition, if you travel from the south to the concert of Ed Sheeran in Düsseldorf, you can park your car in parking garages in front of the city center and continue with shuttles. In addition, bust tours from several cities are offered to avoid traffic jams and make the journey more sustainable.
Public transport as the best option
As with all major events, however, the journey to the gig is recommended by public transport. From Düsseldorf Central Station it only takes 15 minutes to the arena. Fans can drive with the U78 to Merkur-Spiel-Arena/Messe Nord or with the U79 to Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstrasse. Alternatively, the Bus 722 to Messe Ost or Mass South/CCD also offers itself.
