Economic sentiment brightens again

Economic sentiment in the eurozone brightened noticeably in January. The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) rose by 2.8 points to 99.9 points compared to the previous month, as the European Commission announced on Monday in Brussels. It is the fourth increase in a row.

The mood in the service sector and industry has improved significantly. In addition, retail confidence and consumer confidence also brightened. Confidence in the construction industry, on the other hand, has deteriorated.

The high energy prices have eased noticeably in recent months. Stocks of natural gas are well stocked. In addition, high inflation has recently fallen. The lifting of corona restrictions in China should speak for stronger growth in the global economy. (dpa)
