Ecom Brands acquires backpack and bag startup Oak25

The success story of the backpack and bag label Oak25 continues.

The young label, which started in 2018 with a Kickstarter campaign by students Jacob Leffers and Emil Woermann, has now been taken over by Ecom Brands GmbH.

For Ecom Brands, the takeover of the label, which specializes in reflective backpacks for cyclists, is an important step in order to further strengthen its own position in the market for backpacks and bags for everyday use and to expand its portfolio.

It was agreed not to disclose the purchase price of the brand, which was able to attract strategic investors in 2020 with the investment company Wald & Wiese Holding, including About You CEO Tarek Müller. With the six-digit investment sum, Oak25 achieved a million valuation at the time.

The takeover price was not communicated, but it was emphasized that the Oak25 team will be completely taken over. Eco-Brands Managing Director Timm von Dressler emphasized in the announcement that he is particularly looking forward to working with the brand’s young team.
