Ebay has announced an update of his data protection declaration. It should apply from April 21st and enables the online marketplace to also use personal data for training AI models in the future. If you don’t want this, you have to actively object to your user: Inner account.
In the new data protection declaration, Ebay, for example, mentions in the new data protection declaration as application examples for AI-based tools that could be fed and could be used in the future: AI assistant, AI generated summaries of product recesses, chat answers in real time, fraud recognition and market research.
Automatic AI offer creation by photo already usable
The AI-based offer preparation is also mentioned in the new explanation. This is already active and can be used for private sellers, as the company reports. The new AI tool is intended to largely automate the adjustment of articles and make the process easier, faster and more unobjectionable.
According to the information, the uploading of a photo of the article to be sold should be sufficient: With the help of image detection and data -based analysis, the AI then automatically identifies relevant product details, suggests suitable categories and complements important information. Other AI-based functions are already under development.
EBay has a guideline for “responsible AI”
In the new data protection declaration, eBay points out that AI-supported tools and products processed personal data can contain, but this does not necessarily have to be the case. In addition, the company wants to ethically correctly operate the models and tools in the sense of a “responsible AI” and refers to a corresponding, in -house guideline.
In the new data protection declaration, for example: Name, address, telephone numbers, email addresses, users: internal name and tax identification number.
For everyone who also sells on the marketplace, for example, social security number, ID infos, selfies or bank details are added.
Countless data from address to chats
In addition, transaction data that chats from the eBay message system or shipping and billing information are also listed. Objection is possible at any time – even before April 21st
