Eating ice cream at the new play park: an ice cream parlor will open here soon

Take a walk, sit on a bench, play in the playground and… eat an ice cream! This will soon be possible at the renovated Dobbepark in the center of Zoetermeer. Reno Hilgersom from PuuRR aan de Dobbe will open a new ice cream parlor on the outside of his restaurant in March.

The new ice cream parlor PuuRR IJs will open on Saturday, March 7, at the same time as the festive opening of the renovated central park at the Grote Dobbe. “Hopefully we can then hand out free ice cream to all visitors.”

According to Reno, there are plenty of good ice cream parlors in Zoetermeer, but not in such a special place as this. In February he will renovate the kitchen of the PuuRR restaurant on the Dobbe and add a small ice cream corner. As a result, the restaurant is closed from Monday February 16 to Friday March 6. “There will be a terrace on the side of the building with new tiles, seats and screens at the water’s edge. There will be a colored awning at the distribution desk where people can get an ice cream.”

Traditionally prepared ice cream

Reno asked his colleague from IJS&ZO, with ice cream parlors in Leidschendam, among others, to prepare ice cream together for PuuRR IJs. There are twenty different flavors every season, from traditional ice creams such as strawberry and vanilla to more trendy flavors. “We have to see which runners will remain in our showcase for the entire season.”

Horns with speckles

Soon you will have a choice of ice creams in a bowl or with a cone at PuuRR IJs. “There will undoubtedly be cones with speckles and special flavors for children,” says Reno. And what happens to the ice cream parlor in winter time? “Perhaps we can turn it into a distribution point with ‘cookies and snacks’. First take a nice walk, play in the playground or perhaps skate on the lake, and in between get a hot chocolate from us. That would be fun!”
