The New Zealander from Jaguar recovers from 9th place on the grid and takes victory in the third round of the Formula E season ahead of Müller and Wehrlain. Cassidy out of the points, but remains championship leader
A certain one Mitch Evans on Jaguar he won theE-prix Of Miami 2026, hard fought third round of season 12 of Formula E. The expert New Zealander thus achieved his first victory of the season while simultaneously recording his 15th career success with electric single-seaters, a result that makes him the most successful driver in this championship despite never having achieved the world title. His result was certainly a blessing for the Jaguar Tcs team, which arrived in Miami with zero points under its belt, but the race in Florida also represented a breath of fresh air for the official Porsche team, which placed both its cars on the podium thanks to Nico Müller and Pascal Wehrlein.
Müller makes good use of pole position
—
To conquer the pole positionfor the first time in his career, it was Müller in front of the Brazilian Felipe Drugovich (Andretti), but the start of the race in Miami was marked by the wet asphalt and therefore by the safety cars immediately on track. The race direction decided to call the safety cars after 5 of the 39 scheduled laps, with a new standing start which saw Müller keep the lead ahead of Drugovich and the Dutchman Nyck De Vries (Mahindra). Drugovich activated the first 2-minute Attack Mode almost immediately, probably to get the tires up to temperature as soon as possible, a move that allowed him to take the lead before being overtaken again by De Vries, who had activated his first Attack Mode shortly after.
seven pilots on the run
—
Müller, Drugovich and De Vries alternated in the lead in the early stages of the race, but the Swede Joel Eriksson (Envision), the German’s other official Porsche, also gradually joined this trio. Pascal Wehrlein and the two official Jaguars of Evans and the Brazilian António Félix da Costaleft sensationally without points after the first two races. Taking advantage of his first boostDa Costa took the lead on lap 16 and managed to maintain it until lap 24, when he was overtaken again by Müller and, two laps later, also by his teammate Evans. At this point in the race, all drivers had used the first Attack Mode and still had one available.
Drugovich rams da Costa
—
The first important one plot twist it arrived on lap 26, when Drugovich made a mistake braking at turn 13 and hit compatriot Da Costa. The first reported significant damage to the car and was forced to return to the pits to repair them, the second managed to limit the damage to return behind the group of leaders. The first to take advantage of this was Evans, who took the lead from Müller to try to mount an escape attempt: on lap 32, before the last waltz of the Attack Modehis lead had grown to around 2″.
Evans flies towards victory
—
The two official Porsches of Müller and Wehrlain activated their own boost almost at the same time on lap 34 to catch up on Evans, but the latter imitated them the following lap, before being overtaken, thus having 1 more minute of power and extra traction to repel the opponents’ attack. In the meantime, the Race Direction increased the distance from 39 to 41 lapsforcing everyone to reevaluate their energy reserves. Meanwhile, the track continued to improve and the times dropped. Evans, however, managed to keep the Porsches at a distance and in this phase the classification leader was also lapped Nick Cassidy (Citroën). Evans’ strategy worked well, so much so that he started the final lap with a lead of over 3″ over the two Porsches. He would not be caught again until the checkered flag.
