Dynamo Dresden: Relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga is a logical consequence of the misery – MDR – Regional

Anyone who hasn’t managed to win a single game in 19 competitive games, and who didn’t score a goal in two games in the vital relegation against a by no means above-average 1. FC Kaiserslautern, simply doesn’t deserve the 2nd Bundesliga.

Lots of wrong decisions

Everyone has to question themselves in Dresden. Why was the squad not strengthened during the winter break – unlike the competition in the table basement? The three signings during the winter break, Oliver Bastista Meier, Vaclav Drchal and Adrian Fein, didn’t really improve the team. Why was coach Alexander Schmidt fired? And to get an inexperienced coach like Guerino Capretti for him in the all-important fight for survival in the 2nd Bundesliga? Sports director Ralf Becker said after the game that not everything had worked out in the season. He believed in Capretti as a savior. In the end, reality looked different, and so Becker will have to question himself. Becker’s contract runs until 2025, but currently only applies to the 2nd Bundesliga. And so, after 2006, 2014 and 2020, the traditional club has been relegated to the 3rd division for the fourth time.

Part of the fan scene escalated

There is the second big problem of SG Dynamo Dresden, a small part of the fan scene. First an impressive choreo, then a great atmosphere, but in the end again the images that unfortunately were to be expected in the event of a defeat. Pyrotechnics flew onto the field, it was only thanks to the very prudent referee Daniel Siebert that the game could be brought to an end properly after a long interruption.

Then, according to police information, 20 to 30 chaotic people stormed the stadium and the changing rooms during the press conference. Two folders were injured. Finally, stones flew against a shuttle bus with fans of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The police are investigating property damage and suspected breach of the peace.

Police: Quiet night overall

Overall, however, it remained relatively quiet in and around the stadium given the tense situation. A police spokesman confirmed to Sport in the East just before midnight that most supporters went home calmly. Accordingly, there were no arrests.
