Promotion hero Dominik Kother is leaving SSV Jahn Regensburg and joining third division leaders Dynamo Dresden. The 24-year-old, who was the difference player in last year’s second division relegation with two goals and two assists, had “actively expressed his desire to change over the years in order to get more guaranteed playing time,” explained sports director Achim Beierlorzer Departure of the offensive player.

Kother played 1,125 minutes in 16 games for the relegation-threatened Regensburg team this season, contributing one goal and two assists. “It is fundamentally extremely important for SSV Jahn that all players have full conviction and identification; this is the only way we can achieve our goals. That’s why this change ultimately makes sense for both sides,” continued Beierlorzer.

While Kother emphasized that he was looking forward to the new task in Dresden “with great anticipation,” his new sports director Thomas Brendel said: “We are pleased that Dominik is now with us. Despite his young age, he has already played a large number of second and third division games and was able to impressively demonstrate his potential as one of the top scorers in the league, especially in the last season in Regensburg. At the end of the last transfer period we were looking for a type of player who would give our game a different character, and we have now found him. He will give us more flexibility thanks to his offensive qualities. After Jonas Oehmichen was out, we now saw a need for additional action in order to remain ambitious.”
