The German volleyball players started the World Cup year with a defeat. The team of the new national coach Giulio Bregoli lost 1: 3 (18:25, 25:20, 17:25, 21:25) on Thursday in Novara.
Already on Friday (5:00 p.m./Discovery+) the second part of the international double pack is on the program in Milan.
The German team is waiting for a year full of highlights. Volleyball Nations League (VNL), which starts on June 4, serves as the first location. Bregoli named for the VNL a 30-member squad, 14 players are to be used per tournament week. In addition to experienced international players such as Anna Pogany, Pia Kästner or Camilla Weitzel, Leana Grozer, daughter of DVV star Georg Grozer, also includes the contingent.
In total, German volleyball players will play twelve games in six weeks in Brazil, Serbia and the USA. Before the World Cup in Thailand (August 22nd to September 7th) there are also two EM qualification games in August.
