The way in which threatened persons are currently protected is no match for threats from serious organized crime. The management of the security of Peter R. de Vries, lawyer Derk Wiersum and Reduan B, the brother of crown witness Nabil B, was fragmented. Signals from the threatened persons themselves were also actually ignored. The system for protecting endangered persons needs to be overhauled.
