The business associations MKB-Nederland, VNO-NCW and evofenedex today awarded the Embassy Award to the best Dutch diplomatic or trading post abroad for the 20th time. The embassy in Brussels and the consulate-general in Dubai were chosen as the winners by the international business community.

The winners were announced during the Ambassadors Conference 2023 in The Hague. Entrepreneurs who have done business abroad in the past year and have been helped by a Dutch representation were able to nominate the representation and give an opinion on the services provided by foreign embassies and consulates. The survey was completed by 300 Dutch entrepreneurs.

The representations in Dubai and Brussels were both rated with an overall rating of 9.6. The survey shows that entrepreneurs mainly use the embassy network to establish local contacts, obtain market information and support with missions and trade fairs. The embassy in Brussels in particular was experienced by the consulted entrepreneurs as proactive, accessible and very hospitable.

Minister Liesje Schreinemacher for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation: ‘We earn a third of our income abroad and that the missions play such an important role in this is no surprise to me, but I think it’s great that companies also see that and acknowledge. That fills me with pride.’

The Embassy Prize is awarded every two years and is an initiative of business associations evofenedex, VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
