Dutch Open gives three talented tennis players Wildcard
10.49 am: The Dutch Open Tournament gives three talented Dutch teenagers the opportunity to participate in the Gravelelt Tournament. The young professional tennis players Mees Röttgering (18), Abel Forer (19) and Manvydas Balciunas (19) have received a wildcard for the tournament in Bunschoten-Spakenburg. The challenger will be played from 13 to 20 July.
With the 160th place in the world ranking list, the Hungarian Zsombor Piros is the highest noted player of the tournament. Furthermore, the Dutch, among others, Guy den Ouden (175th of the world) and Max Houkes (as number 256) make their appearance in the main tournament in addition to the three talents.
Dutch national team drops on FIFA ranking
10.33 am: The Dutch national team has dropped a place in the ranking of World Football Association FIFA. The team of national coach Ronald Koeman dropped from sixth to seventh place because it was passed by Portugal.
The Portuguese won the Nations League this spring by beating European Champion Spain in the final after penalties. Orange was eliminated by Spain in the quarterfinals. The Netherlands won the qualifying matches for the World Cup of Finland (0-2) and Malta (8-0) in June.
World champion Argentina remains the leader for Spain, France and England.
