Xavi Simons underwent surgery on his right knee on Tuesday. The 23-year-old international and his club Tottenham Hotspur reported the operation via social media with a photo of Simons in a hospital bed.

‘I went missing, on a mission just perfecting my craft. Intro done. Now we rise’, Simons wrote with his photos on Instagram. Below the message are reactions from Bart Verbruggen, Ryan Graveberch, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Mexx Meerdink, Amadou Onana, Fabio Silva and Lars Veldwijk.

The injury could see him out of action for up to 12 months and he will miss the World Cup, which starts on June 11 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Tottenham Hotspur is in 17th place in the Premier League, just one point above West Ham United.
