The Dutch couple was saved on Sunday after the two were lost in Camaleño, in Cantabria, an autonomous region in the north of the country. Camaleño is very popular with active tourists, who can fully cycle and walk there. The two Dutch people, both 30 years old, also did the latter. They got lost after they missed a path during their planned trip and ended up in a densely bost area in Argüébanes.

After an alarm had been raised, the emergency aid center 112 from Cantabria mobilized a team of firefighters. They were able to trace the victims through the village of Rases, on the other side of the river, after which they went looking for the two to free them.

That finally succeeded. After they were found, they went with the rescue team to leave the forest. The two were clearly relieved that they could leave the difficult area.

The two can be seen on a released photo of the emergency services. One of them has shorts and a backpack on. It is not clear when the Dutch found out that they had missed a crucial exit.
