Dusan Tadic on his way to Fenerbahçe; attacker spotted in Istanbul

Less than 48 hours after his departure from Ajax, it seems that Dusan Tadic has already found a new club. While it was initially thought that he would continue his career with Besiktas on a transfer-free basis, Tadic now seems to be playing football with fellow townsman Fenerbahçe.

In recent weeks, the Turkish media have reported that the 34-year-old Serb was going to sign a contract with Besiktas. To great surprise, rival Fenerbahçe announced the arrival of Tadic on Saturday evening. Talks are now underway in Istanbul about the transition, with it expected that he will sign a multi-year contract.

Break with Ajax

After all the rumours Ajax confirmed the departure on Friday evening of the captain. Tadic played for the club for five years, but a disagreement over Ajax’s transfer policy seems to have been the reason for the split. According to Tadic, the current selection would be of substandard quality. Due to missing out on the Champions League, the club has less financial resources and new players can only be obtained if players are also sold.

Fenerbahçe finished second in the Turkish league last season behind rival Galatasaray. If Fenerbahçe can officially register Tadic, it will be the fifth foreign club for the footballer. He previously played for FC Groningen, FC Twente, Southampton and Ajax.
