Dürr throws away podium chance in double victory in the USA

Ski racer Lena Dürr also missed the podium in the third World Cup Slalom of the season. After two fourth places in Levi/Finland, the 31-year-old from Germering had to settle for 28th place in Killington/USA on Sunday due to a serious mistake in the second race. After the first round, Dürr was sixth.

Wendy Holdener from Switzerland and Anna Swenn Larsson from Sweden shared the victory. Both were tied after two runs in 1:42.97 minutes. Third place went to Katharina Truppe (Austria/+0.22 seconds). Holdener celebrated her first win in the World Cup.

Local hero Mikaela Shiffrin, twice successful in Levi, had to settle for fifth place after the best time in the first run. The six-time world champion from the USA was not at the top for the first time on her sixth slalom start on the slope in Vermont.

Dürr had been on course for victory twice in Finland and fell back in the second race each time. This time an early mistake dashed all hopes. Andrea Filser (Wildsteig) took 27th place as the second best German starter and missed the World Championship norm. The 29-year-old fulfilled half the “ticket” with 13th place in Levi.

Marlene Schmotz (Leitzachtal/31st) and Emma Aicher (Mahlstetten/32nd) failed in the first run.
