Dumoulin sees Belgian De Lie win the Volta Limburg Classic

Belgian cyclist Arnaud De Lie has won the Volta Limburg Classic. The 20-year-old Lotto Soudal rider was the strongest of a leading group of six riders on the cobblestones on the Diepstraat in Eijsden. Tom Dumoulin, who had ensured the decisive separation in the peloton about 20 kilometers from the finish, did not sprint and finished in sixth place.

Amber Kraak (Jumbo-Visma) won the women’s race over 118.4 kilometers. The 27-year-old from Brabant jumped about 20 kilometers from the finish and soloed to the win.

In 2020, the race through the Limburg hills was canceled due to the corona crisis. Last year, the Volta Limburg Classic was to be held in the summer, but due to excessive rainfall and flooding in the south of Limburg, the race had to be canceled again.
