Having been sidelined since mid-November due to an ankle problem, Denzel is continuing his rehabilitation in Holland but will return to Milan within a couple of weeks at most
Is it true that the bad news arrives all at once? It could be, but in the area around Appiano Gentile only positive things have been raining down lately: Napoli’s stop in injury time against Parma, the hard-fought but very important victory of the Nerazzurri against Lecce, the lead in the standings over Conte’s team, the hope that Milan could also remain at -6 after the injury time scheduled for this evening. And good news regarding Denzel Dumfries too. Beppe Marotta himself had given a preview before the match against the team led by Di Francesco: “The news of the day is that Dumfries is recovering faster than expected, let’s not forget that we missed him in the last few games. We hope he can be back at the coach’s disposal soon. On the pitch in mid-February? I won’t comment out of respect for the medical staff. We are optimistic.” So, how is the Dutchman’s recovery going (and when will he actually return)?
the plan
—
At the time, i.e. in mid-November, Dumfries had returned from the Dutch national team retreat due to an ankle problem. It didn’t seem like anything serious, and then there was even surgery to resolve the damage. In the meantime, a good two months have passed and 13 matches have been missed – to date alone. But the worst really seems to be behind us, because the Nerazzurri winger – who is continuing a fruitful rehabilitation process in Holland – should return to Milan within a couple of weeks, and then really get into the heart of the return operation. The recovery is progressing well, even better than expected by the club and Nerazzurri medical staff, and the return to the pitch could seriously be brought forward from the first days of March to February. Dumfries’ (and Inter’s) objective is becoming precisely this. Circled in red there is not a date but a week, i.e. the last of the next month. Which means coming back in a month or so. A very important recovery for Chivu and for Inter as a whole, which has been going strong in recent months, but always with the handicap of a right wing that has emerged from the absence of the main winger.
