The Preuvenement in Assen will have a new design this year. The festival will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026 as a one-day event in the Gouverneurstuin in Assen. Previously, the Preuvenement was spread over three days, from Friday to Sunday.
“The choice for a more compact design was not easy, but it did not come out of the blue either,” the organization said. “Like many event organizations, Preuvenement is also faced with rising costs for production, technology, security and personnel, among other things.”
The organization of the Preuvenement emphasizes that the ambition remains the same: an atmospheric event where Assen residents come together for food, music and culture.
In the Governor’s Garden, visitors can count on tastings from local catering establishments, performances by bands and acoustic acts, children’s activities and contributions from cultural organizations from Assen. However, the large main stage with national artists will not be visible again this year. The emphasis is on local talent, meetings and atmosphere.
“The aim is to go back to a long weekend. We will certainly commit to that and that is the goal,” says interim city center manager Anita ter Veld. According to her, the event remains a place where Assen residents meet and open the new cultural and culinary season together.
