Dua Lipa wears German – thanks to Gerrit Jacob

Pop star fashion from Germany, what was there last? some. For example, there is Marina Hoermanseder. The designer is from Austria, has her studio in Berlin and sends her leather belt dresses, which are half dominatrix uniforms and half Matryoshkas, to Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson, who wear them to great effect on red carpets. Or there is Ottolinger, the label of two Swiss women who also work in Berlin and whose cleverly wrapped, semi-transparent mesh bodies look great on Beyoncé, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian.

Another designer who has recently been playing at the top of this league is Hamburg-born Gerrit Jacob. Dua Lipa is a big fan of his. For example, she recently wore a black leather coat by Gerrit Jacob, paired with Doc Martens, a Balenciaga ‘Le Cagole’ bag and black slim Dior ‘Bondage’ sunglasses. It has to be said: a monster piece that almost looks like a bomber jacket has been extended from the hips down to just above the ankles, thanks to its long, full-length zip in the center front and the wide storm flap behind it, according to the stretch- Limousine.

On the front of the coat: a huge airbrush motif, a blurred swan. Wow! You have to get it right first: to combine such a hard leather coat, which could almost come directly from “Matrix”, with such an ultra kitschy soft rock motif. Jacobs has a perfect flair for such oversize clashes, which also incorporate motifs from the worlds of “Scream”, the juggalos and the Harley-Davidson tank decorations. The 29-year-old grew up in Hamburg and Bad Bramstedt (ha, just like Karl Lagerfeld!). He studied at Central Saint Martins in London and, after internships at Kenzo and Balenciaga, worked for a while in the design team at Gucci in Italy.

Now he wants to know it with his own label. He founded it a few months ago, according to the commercial register it is registered in Hamburg-Winterhude, the studio is in Berlin. Wonderful! Best of luck! In an interview with the British “Vogue”, Jacob recently said that his airbrush motifs, which he sprayed by hand over days on scrap leather fabrics, were inspired by the hype aesthetic that he knows from the Hamburg Cathedral.
