Tennis player Anna-Lena Friedsam easily reached the round of 16 at the WTA tournament in Cluj-Napoca.
In the first round, the 29-year-old from Neuwied gave Romanian Ilona Ghioroaie no chance at 6:1, 6:1. A little later, Tamara Korpatsch followed suit and beat Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean 6:4, 2:6, 6:3.
Friedsam will now face Daria Snigur (Ukraine) in the round of the best 16 on Wednesday, Korpatsch will face Jodie Burrage (Great Britain).
Meanwhile, Laura Siegemund mastered her opening hurdle at the WTA tournament in Nanchang/China. The 35-year-old won her opening match against Wang Xinyu from China 6:1, 7:5 and will face Ulrikke Eikeri (Norway) in the round of 16.
