Last week, Max Schönhaus was narrowly defeated by Yannick Hanfmann in his debut at ATP level in Hamburg. On Sunday, the 18-year-old collected his next tournament victory on a smaller stage.

At the M25 tournament in Troisdorf, Max Schönhaus rushed into the final with victories over the Swiss Jeffrey Von derschulenburg (number 858 in the world rankings), the Dutchman Mac Visser (number 1354 in the world rankings), DTB colleague Kai Wehnelt (number 787 in the world rankings) and the Pole Marcel Zielinski (number 636 in the world rankings), where the German duel with Mika Petkovic (number 547 in the world rankings).

Schönhaus, who started the tournament as number 385 in the ATP rankings, showed a strong performance, was ahead in almost all important statistics and therefore prevailed quite clearly with 6:4 and 6:3.

For Schönhaus, who won the finals of the junior tour at the end of 2025, it was the third title on the ITF tour. In 2025 he won an M15 and an M25 event in Monastir. In Troisdorf, however, a tournament victory on clay was achieved for the first time.

Thanks to this success, Schönhaus will be near the top 350 in the world next week – and therefore better than ever before. The same applies to Petkovic, who will approach the top 500.

Voigt triumphs, Sziedat loses the final

There was also a German success at the W15 tournament in Szentendre, Hungary. The 21-year-old Marie Voigt (number 522 in the world rankings) prevailed in the final with 6:4 and 7:5 against the top seeded Slovakian Radka Zelnickova. The decisive factor was a perfect return of break points: Voigt was able to use three of three opportunities, Zelnickova only one of seven.

Franziska Sziedat (number 713 in the world rankings) had to admit defeat to Frenchwoman Jenny Lim (number 556 in the world rankings) 4:6 and 3:6 in the Oliva (W15) final.
