The first round in Levi, Finland, is all about the American, who shows off the competition. Behind them, however, a German surprises.
Lena Dürr has a promising start in the first slalom of the season in alpine skiing and could land directly on the podium. The DSV athlete finished third in the first round in Levi, Finland.
In the second race of the Olympic season, Mikaela Shiffrin was in top form. The American set the best time on the “Levi Black” slope with a strong first run and is well ahead of the rest of the field. Your lead over Dürr is already 1.49 seconds. Lara Colturi from Albania is second, 1.08 seconds behind.
Shiffrin is aiming for her 102nd World Cup victory in Levi. The 30-year-old most recently triumphed in the slalom at the World Cup finals in Sun Valley in March. Dürr, who has already achieved 16 slalom podium places in the World Cup in her career, finished twelfth in the giant slalom at the start of the season in Sölden.
Emma Aicher, 21-year-old DSV young hope, is in seventh place after the first run (+1.92). Romy Ertl, daughter of former world champion Martina Ertl, was eliminated from her World Cup debut after a driving error. The 18-year-old started the race with start number 74.
