At the beginning of the season it looked that it would be Pius Paschke’s winter. But the DSV eagle was recently disappointed. That has now followed.
At the beginning of the season, the German ski jumper Pius Paschke went dazzling. The DSV eagle won one World Cup after the other. The last one in Willingen marked a low point for the 34-year-old with 27th and 31st place-with consequences.
Pius Paschke will not take part in the upcoming World Cup in Lake Placid (USA). After a disappointing weekend, he decided together with the coaching team for a break. National coach Stefan Horngacher said: “We discussed in peace. Pius Paschke will go out of the World Cup, he will stay at home and do quiet training.” Stephan Leyhe gets the place of Paschke.
Paschke will train specifically to prepare for the upcoming competitions. “Then I’m looking forward to Japan,” said Paschke. In Sapporo, the dress rehearsal for the World Cup in Trondheim (Norway) is on February 15 and 16.
At the start of the season, Paschek won five of the first eight jumps and had traveled to the four-hill tour as a overall World Cup leader. In the meantime, he has fallen back to fourth place with 875 points. The Austrians Daniel Tschofenig (1,346), Jan Hörl (1,143) and Stefan Kraft (895) are at the top. Tschofenig also won the tour at the beginning of the year.
