Ski jumper Agnes Reisch celebrated her podium premiere at the World Cup in Lake Placid. The 25-year-old Allgäuin had to give up on Saturday after a very strong performance, only the Slovenian World Cup leader Nika Prevc and continued her remarkable high flight with second place in the US state of New York.
Reisch, which had flown in fourth and three times in fifth place in the current season, lacked 122.0 and 126.0 m (261.2 points) the equivalent of around six meters on PrevC (272.2/126 , 0+126.0).
So far, only three German jumpers have won in the history of the World Cup. World champion Katharina Schmid has 19 successes, Juliane Seyfarth (4) and Sochi Olympic champion Carina Voigt (2) also won several times.
Two and a half weeks before the start of the World Cup in Trondheim (February 26 to March 9), Selina Freitag also shone on the podium as third (254.7). The team world champion from Aue had finished fourth in the first jumping also won by Prevc in front of Reisch (5th). Reisch had already indicated her top shape and improved the ski jump record to 130.5 m.
Furthermore, Schmid cannot build on the strong performance of the first weeks of the season. After eleventh place on Friday, the four -time winner of the season was improved as seventh, but missed the podium for the sixth time in a row. In the overall World Cup, the Oberstdorfer is still second already 201 points behind PrevC, which is seven season wins.
