The German mixed team had a successful start to the new season on Friday. The DSV Eagles landed on the / missed the podium.

Here we go again: On Friday afternoon, the German mixed team was able to prove themselves on the large hill at the start of the season in Lillehammer, Norway. The German quartet around Selina Freitag, Katharina Schmid, Philipp Raimund and Felix Hoffmann ended up in fourth place. Victory went to Japan ahead of Slovenia and Austria.

After the first round, the German team was in fourth place behind Japan, Slovenia and Austria. The second round started with Katharina Schmid. The 29-year-old was a little late when jumping and landed after 125.5 meters. A decent performance, but a short time later the Slovenian Nika Prevc was significantly better with 136.5 meters.

Afterwards, Philipp Raimund went to the ski jump. The German ski jumping hopes in the Olympic winter did not disappoint. The winner of the Summer Grand Prix delivered a long jump of 134 meters and received praise from Schmid after landing. Raimund clenched his fist and was visibly happy. ARD expert Sven Hannawald said: “Very important.”

Selina Freitag was also able to improve compared to the first round and already knew in the run-out area that she was performing strongly. She beamed and cheered about her 125 meters. However, the order remained: Japan ahead of Austria and Slovenia. Germany was in fourth place at the time.

The German champion, Felix Hoffmann, delivered 136 meters and received applause from his coach. In the end, however, it wasn’t enough for the German team to make it to the podium.
