German Lena Dürr also performed well with the sovereign gold success of the Italian Federica Brignone. In the end it was enough for the top 10.

Skir racer Lena Dürr surprisingly made it into the top ten at the World Cup giant slalom of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. The 33-year-old took nine in the famous gold triumph of the Italian Federica Brignone and got confidence for the slalom on Saturday. In the Dürr is one of the favorites. So far, the German ski team has not yet won a medal in the title fights in Austria.

In the end, the Italian Federica Brignone was able to look forward to the gold medal. She showed two strong runs and referred Alice Robinson from New Zealand to second with a distance of 0.9 seconds. Bronze won the American Paula Moltzan.

Dürr’s teammate Emma Aicher came to 23rd. Defending champion Mikaela Shiffrin from the United States had dispensed with a start because of the consequences of her abdominal injury and the training deficit. “It was incredibly fun,” said Dürr on ZDF. “The day was very successful for me.”

She enjoyed “just skiing and not being asked,” said Dürr, who was even seventh after the first round. “If you have such a run, you want to confirm it, of course. The anticipation for Saturday is even greater.” Then there is the slalom where the strengths of the Munich native lie.

She had gone into the giant slalom for no great expectations-however, after her mistake in the team combination, it wasn’t entirely free of pressure. In the mini team competition, on Tuesday, she had made a rough mistake shortly before the finish, which brought her and teammate Aicher for grasping the first German medal at this World Cup.
