Just in time for the Olympic season, Lena Dürr is in top form. She took second place in the Copper Mountain slalom.
Ski racer Lena Dürr fought her way to her first World Cup podium place this winter with a fantastic finale. The 34-year-old worked her way from ninth to second place in the Copper Mountain slalom and was only beaten by the American series winner Mikaela Shiffrin. Third place went to Lara Colturi, who is also in good form and starts for Albania. Emma Aicher, who was seventh at halftime, was eliminated from the second run. Jessica Hilzinger finished 22nd.
“I’m incredibly happy with the second round,” said Dürr. She was “full on attack” there. Including the surprisingly good sixth place in the giant slalom on Saturday, it was a “super weekend” for her. The form curve is right – also with a view to the Olympic Games, the highlight of this winter, next February in Italy.
For Shiffrin it was her third victory in the third slalom of the season at her home game in the US state of Colorado. Once again she dominated the competition in her flagship discipline. The five-time overall World Cup winner’s lead over Dürr was 1.57 seconds.
The women’s slalom concluded the four World Cup days in Copper Mountain. From Shiffrin’s point of view, the start of the men’s Super-G last Thursday was already emotional, as her fiancé Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (Norway) celebrated his acclaimed comeback after a 22-month injury break.
