A 44-year-old from Eindhoven has to prison for nine years to the Public Prosecution Service (OM). He is suspected of large -scale drug trafficking and money laundering. Justice also wants the man to receive an area ban of five years for the area around Kruisstraat in Eindhoven. The suspect was caught in August last year when he sold 95 kilos of raw materials for hard drugs.

That the Public Prosecution Service demands such a hefty punishment against the Eindhoven citizen is not just like that. “He is the spider in the web and probably several webs when it comes to buying or selling hard drugs and materials to produce it. Everyone knows how to find him.” In addition, the man had previously been in contact with the judiciary for drug crime.

Red -handed
The suspect runs into the lamp on August 29, during a police action against undermining crime. In a catering business on the Kruisstraat in Eindhoven, the police see that the suspect will complete a drug deal together with other suspects. A large amount of cash money is transferred under a table.

Then at the back of the case of jerry cans with a total of 95 kilos of amphetamine oil in the back of the buyers’ bus are put. This is used for the production of amphetamine (speed) and methamphetamine (Crystal Meth).

When the police invade the catering business, the suspect quickly tries to hide and flee his phone. But that failed.

Gold mine
The police find a wealth of evidence on his phone. This way the judiciary can read the entire run -up to, and all agreements on the drug deal. According to the OM, the Eindhoven resident has a coordinating role in this. But the phone reveals much more.

For example, the suspect has been busy with drug trafficking for some time. In the conversations on his phone it is about blocks of cocaine, XTC pills, corrupt contacts, various suspected smuggling lines and even the possibility to smuggle drugs through aircraft. There is no doubt for the judiciary: the man is fully engaged in drug trafficking or its preparation.

Tens of thousands of euros
And that trade in narcotic resources gives the man a lot of money. After his arrest on the Kruisstraat, a lot of cash is found in his underpants during searching.

In another study, no less than 120 thousand euros in cash was found in the garden under his house. Even in a vacuum cleaner, ten thousand euros is found. The Eindhoven citizen is silent about it in court, but there is his DNA on the rubber bands with which the money is bound.

Output
The OM wants the Eindhoven person to disappear nine years behind bars for drug trafficking and money laundering. When he is released afterwards, the judiciary wants him to no longer enter Kruisstraat and surrounding streets for five years. The public prosecutor has therefore also demanded an area ban. “The street has long been plagued by crime and that leads to all kinds of misery: fights, buildings that are shot, drug crime, and money laundering.”

Residents of the area around Kruisstraat and Woenselse Markt have been experiencing nuisance from hanging youth and criminals for years. The neighborhood is famous and notorious and according to the judiciary the suspect contributes to this. “The area is said to be ‘of him’. Research shows that he has been coming here for a long time and has been working on his drug trafficking and therefore want to keep him there.”

This is the Woensel market

The Kruisstraat and Woenselse Markt in Eindhoven are notorious for crime, nuisance and tensions in the neighborhood. In particular, drug crime, illegal trade, violence and human trafficking are more common here than average. Entrepreneurs and residents have been complaining about intimidation, waste problems and an unsafe feeling on the street for years.

The municipality and the police regularly intervene with extra checks and camera surveillance. Despite initiatives to make the neighborhood more livable, the image remains negative.

Yet it is also a lively neighborhood with markets and shops, where many different cultures come together. The Woenselse Markt is not only a large square, the Saturday market is busy and loved far beyond Eindhoven.
