The airport in Brussels closed twice on Tuesday evening because drones were spotted in the area. Arriving flights diverted to Schiphol, Ostend, Eindhoven and Lille, Belgian media reported. Air traffic was also stopped at Liège airport on Tuesday evening after drones were spotted.
Belgian Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin has asked Prime Minister Bart De Wever to quickly convene the National Security Council. “We will not allow our airports to be disrupted by uncontrolled drone flights,” said Quintin. “This requires a coordinated and national response.”
