A 22-year-old man from Roosendaal has been given 20 hours of community service because he drove on the A4 highway at approximately 200 kilometers per hour last July. The subdistrict court judge also ruled on Monday that he must surrender his driving license for eight months.
The speed devil had only had his driver’s license for a year when he was caught that morning on the highway near Steenbergen. The speed limit here is 100 kilometers per hour during the day. The man was driving a German rental car. It has been confiscated.
The police previously announced that the top speed that the driver from Roosendaal reached that morning was 235 kilometers per hour. His average speed was 206 kilometers per hour.

The subdistrict court judge also decided that the man will receive a community service order of another 20 hours if he commits another crime within the next two years. He will also lose his driver’s license for an additional two months.
Last year, more than 130 cars were seized in West Brabant after drivers pressed the accelerator too far. These often involved German rental cars. According to the police, the approach to get these speed demons – so-called traffic offenders – off the road is paying off.
