Mertaranta celebrated at a younger person as he enjoyed the action of the commentator’s fast -paced traveling life.
“It went hard, then went too hard and finally even harder,” he describes to K&K.
However, alcohol began to demand its taxes. The humid nights stretched long, and Mertaranta realized that he was forced to change his habits.
The final break point came at a work gig in 2009.
– I still remember it well. Winter morning, I stood in the parking lot in the frost of 30 degrees. Again, a spooky hangover, so bad that you couldn’t even take some sloping. I cursed myself that this is going to end here, he remembers.
– And it ended like a wall. I made everything new, diet.
Mertaranta, 69, explained his last Lions match last spring at the Stockholm World Cup. He continues to continue on the MTV team as a SM League and Athletics Existity.
