Angela de Jong thinks that the excessive use of alcohol and drugs has affected Gordon’s brain. “Combine that with a sick desire for fame and you have a toxic cocktail.”
It has been a lot quieter around Gordon lately. After all the fuss surrounding his TV soap, the entertainer currently seems to be fully focusing on his life as a catering entrepreneur and that is all going well for him. Who does not adhere to that relative Gordon peace is Angela de Jong. She comes out with a harsh sneer at him.
Dictionary
Angela will never again become a fan of Gordon, as she was when he formed a TV duo with Gerard Joling. “Gordon is quite beyond ‘normal people’ and collecting is not in Gordon’s dictionary. And that makes it so annoying to watch,” she says in the AD show Famous or Infamous.
She continues: “I can also call him a narcissist, but that is another stamp I put on him and I am not a psychiatrist or psychologist, but I think that Gordon is also the prototype of someone who is quite talented, in terms of came into the spotlight at a young age, but is still chronically insecure and constantly wants confirmation about everything.”
Spotlights
Gordon really needs to stop doing that at some point, Angela thinks. “Yes, then I really think: come on, there is more to life than just being in the spotlight.”
It’s a shame, because Goor has what it takes to make people laugh, according to the AD opinion diva. “I think that a large part of the Netherlands still has some kind of warm heart for him, because we all enjoyed Geer & Goor on the floor, and that duo of course really worked very well.”
Toxic cocktail
However, it is not to Goor’s credit that he cannot collect at all, Angela continues. “What strikes me so much about Gordon is that he is someone who can deliver so hard, up to and including a shot in the neck that he wishes on people as a jury member, but then always considers himself the biggest victim.”
Maybe it’s all that drink and drugs, she decides. “I think we’ve all seen for a long time that something wasn’t quite right with him. Long-term drug use and long-term alcohol use, yes, that does something to someone’s brain. If you combine that with attention and a sick desire for fame, it becomes a very toxic cocktail.”
