Drew Barrymore ‘profoundly’ apologizes for snide comment over million dollar claim

As of April 11, Amber Heard’s domestic violence trial against Johnny Depp is now being streamed live. What was once recorded by court artists is now taken over by the camera. Every detail, down to the gummy bears that Depp has in front of him as food for his nerves, is transmitted down to the smallest detail. So it’s no wonder that our colleagues from Hollywood also add their two cents.

Drew Barrymore, for example, poked fun at the $50 million counterclaim Depp filed against Heard on her talk show. She called the mutual money guns “a seven-figure madness.” Otherwise, when compared to other steep social media statements, it remained comparatively moderate.

According to Variety, she said: “This is about the real lives of two people and I don’t need anyone to tell me what it’s like to go public with your life. And I also understand all the feelings. Yet they are leaking all these details that no one should really know. That’s crazy!”

But now the 47-year-old has posted an Instagram video in which she apologizes “deeply”. Barrymore himself knows public scandals only too well. Beginning in her days as a child star in the 1980s, when she had serious alcohol and drug problems. At the time, however, there was still no social media excitement.

“She really didn’t want to offend anyone,” says the now-producer-actress (“ET,” “Scream,” “Charlie’s Angels 3”). She described the numerous web comments after her talk show as “educational”.

“I had to learn that I had insulted people. I’ve addressed Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and I sincerely apologize. Thank you to everyone who spoke up,” she said in the corresponding Insta clip. The psychological-pedagogical tone of her statement sounds like self-therapy on the Internet. “A learning moment for me and for how I develop and behave. I can be a more thoughtful and better person because all I want is to be a good person and I appreciate the depth of this cause and I will grow and change from it.”
