Dynamo Dresden has made another statement in the 2nd Bundesliga and prevented SV Darmstadt 98 from reaching the top of the table. The Saxons won against the second-placed team 3-1 (2-0) and temporarily left the relegation places. Vincent Vermeij (45th, 45th+1) put the Saxons in the lead with a brace just before the break.
At that time, Darmstadt was outnumbered after a red card for Patric Pfeiffer (43rd). Christoph Daferner (81st) sealed Dynamo’s third home win of the season in front of 30,460 spectators. Yusuke Furukawa (90th) only managed to connect for the Hessians. Dresden’s Jakob Lemmer (53rd) was sent off for two fouls within 60 seconds.
Liberation strike in the relegation battle: Düsseldorf defeats Bochum
Fortuna Düsseldorf has made a breakthrough in the relegation battle. The Rhinelanders defeated VfL Bochum 2-1 (1-0) with goals from Cedric Itten (45th) and Florent Muslija (57th) while conceding a goal from Farid Alfa-Ruprecht (79th). Thanks to their success, the Fortunes initially jumped to eleventh place. For Bochum, cheered on by 10,000 traveling fans, a series of ten games without defeat ended.
The Düsseldorf team, already weakened in defense, had to replace the injured right winger Valgeir Lunddal with Muslija in the 20th minute. Düsseldorf’s creative player had hardly trained during the week due to an ankle injury and therefore initially stayed out.
