Drenthe has the biggest decrease in crime. Where nationally the police registered about half percent fewer crimes last year, this has fallen by almost 7 percent in our province.

The number of crimes in Drenthe is almost on the lowest number ever. Only in 2018 did the police see a little less crime here. Last year the police registered 15,598 crimes.

In Drenthe, there is primarily a substantial decrease in cyber crime (52 percent), theft from cars (37 percent) and burglaries at companies (26 percent). On the other hand, the police see more threats.

Not only in companies was less broken in last year. The police see less burglaries across the entire width. For example, there is less often broken in in houses, shops and from garages. The number of home burglaries is at the lowest level ever for Drenthe. Last year the police have not yet registered 500 home burglaries. That is 13 percent less than two years ago, and compared to 2014, that is even a decrease of 68 percent.

And after two consecutive years of rising offenses in stores, that also dropped again last year. The police think that this decrease is possible with the fact that supermarkets have taken measures around self -scank masses and that the anger about price increases from the beginning of 2023 has been destroyed.

The most common crime is fraud against residents and companies. Consider, among other things, phishing, insurance fraud or scams via web shops. It concerns about 15 percent of all crimes in Drenthe.

Other common crimes in Drenthe are destruction (12 percent) and asset crimes such as blackmail, healing or extortion (11 percent).
