Dredging works started in harbor channel Blankenberge
At the back of the vessel De Vlaanderen 16 there is a so-called cutter head under water. It stirs up the sand and sucks it up. They then pump the sand through the dredger to a dumping pipe. 750 meters further, the sand then goes into the sea, which also strengthens the coast and protects it against storms. The works will take several weeks.
