Dreams: a diary, a love, a generational confrontation
In the center of Dreams there is Johanne, a teenager who falls in love with his high school teacher. To give shape to her feelings, the girl entrusts everything to a secret diary. But when his words are discovered by the mother and grandmotherthe private individual turns into a family and generational case. The three women, each with a different emotional and cultural background, find themselves reflecting on love, sexuality and individual freedomin a dialogue that unhinges prejudices and certainties.
A work that explores the female soul
Dreams is distinguished by his delicate and introspective narration. The inner voice of the protagonist guides the viewer on a journey between dreams and reality, between unconfessable desires and the fear of the judgment of others. The film never gives in easy stereotypes and, albeit touching the theme of forbidden lovedoes it with lightness and depth.
The first piece of a trilogy on relationships
Dreams is the First chapter of the “Relationship trilogy” of the Norwegian director Dag Johan Haugerud, who will continue in next months with the exit of Love (presented in competition at the Venice Festival in 2024) e Sex (presented to Berlinal 2024). A project that promises to explore the thousand facets of love and desire, facing the theme of self -discovery with an unprecedented and penetrating gaze.
