The HSV women led against the big favorites for almost twenty minutes, but in the end there was still a defeat: VfL Wolfsburg won the northern duel in the women’s football Bundesliga 3-1 (0-0) on Sunday. The “She-Wolves” had a hard time against the combative newcomers for a long time.

Svea Stoldt even gave Hamburg the lead in the 51st minute with a dream goal. Two minutes later, Christin Meyer scored another goal for the HSV. This did not count because of an alleged offside position.

Alexandra Popp turned the game in Wolfsburg’s favor with a brace in the 69th and 80th minutes. Kessya Bussy made it 3-1 in stoppage time.

HSV hasn’t won in ten Bundesliga games and is heading into the winter break in a relegation zone. On January 25th (4 p.m.) an important duel continues in the Volksparkstadion: competitor SGS Essen is only two points ahead of HSV in 12th place.

Despite an early lead by the Hamburger SV The team from the Hanseatic city achieved a draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. The two teams drew 1-1.

Newly promoted Hamburger SV remains strong at home in the Volksparkstadion against European Cup teams and has extended its series. The guests were largely too harmless offensively. HSV prevented the Hessians from finishing in the European Cup during the short winter break. The Hanseatic League celebrates Christmas with 16 points and is therefore in the secure table zone, Frankfurt has 25 points.

In front of 57,000 spectators in the sold-out Volksparkstadion, Albert Sambi Lokonga (19th minute) gave the hosts the lead. Hugo Larsson (26th) equalized shortly afterwards. An offside goal by Hamburg’s substitute Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira (80th) was disallowed after the video assistant intervened.

Before the game, there was talk of the “final Volksparktanz” on the HSV website. There was a lot going on in the middle of the first half, at least for about ten minutes: HSV benefited from a bad pass from Nnamdi Collins near the penalty area. The ball came to Lokonga, who finished with a low shot and scored his fourth goal of the season.

A little later the visitors responded after William Mikelbrencis Brown defended too passively from a wide cross. Larsson converted Brown’s assist from a central position in the penalty area. Shortly afterwards, Rayan Philippe missed the lead again with his crossbar crasher.
