Draw does not help FC Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt – Bundesliga – football

Fine individual performance by Kamada for the lead

The guests from Frankfurt acted without goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and attacker Filip Kostic for long stretches. That paid off after 22 minutes when Eintracht quickly switched after winning the ball. Rafael Borré freed Kamada in the centre, who with a quick touch steered the ball past FCA goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz and then into the goal to make it 1-0.

Shortly thereafter, Jesper Lindström even had the 2-0 for the Hessians on his feet after another counterattack. But the Swede only hit the post from a promising position (27th). In the last third of the first 45 minutes, Augsburg came out stronger and were rewarded with the equaliser. Gregoritsch cunningly put the ball past Eintracht substitute goalkeeper Diant Ramaj to make it 1-1 from the left because the keeper had speculated on a pass into the middle.

Few opportunities in round two

At the beginning of the second half, Augsburg initially played visually superior. Frankfurt came up even stronger from the 60th minute, but the Hessians, like Augsburg, lacked real determination towards the goal. Kamada had the best chances with a header from 12 meters just over the goal (64′) and Lindström after a counterattack in the closing stages (88′) when Gikiewicz reacted strongly in a one-on-one.

A little later, Bundesliga debutant Ramaj prevented a late decision in favor of Augsburg (90+2) against substitute Florian Niederlechner.

Augsburg has to go to Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Matchday 20 (Saturday, February 22, 2022, 3:30 p.m.). Frankfurt will receive Arminia Bielefeld in the Friday game (8.30 p.m.).
