In southwestern China, thirty people are currently being sought by rescue workers, after a landslide in the Sichuan region. International press agencies report this, after a statement on the Chinese state channel CCTV. The landslide buried a dozen houses in the village of Jinping underground. According to the state channel, two people were collected alive under the rubble and about two hundred others were evacuated.

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his concern on Saturday and emphasized the strengthening of supervision and rescue work in the region, reports the official news agency Xinhua. He also insisted on the authorities to make every effort to look for the missing people and to minimize the number of victims.

The Chinese Prime Minister, Li Qiang, demands that it is investigated whether other areas are at risk. If this is the case, the residents of those areas will be evacuated. According to residents of the affected village, stones were regularly rolled off the nearby mountain. There would also have been an inspection in the area by geologists last year.

The Chinese government has announced that it will withdraw nearly seven million euros for the recovery of the infrastructure and other public provisions.
