Dozens of people have commemorated the Haarlem woman who died in a watercraft accident last week. During the commemoration several torches were lit and a speech was given. On a table along the water were pictures of the victim.
The accident happened last Sunday in Zijkanaal C, not far from the viaduct of the A9, on the border between Velsen-Zuid and Spaarndam.
The 18-year-old woman was driving the watercraft. A 23-year-old man was sitting on the back of her. He was hospitalized with serious injuries. The police suspect that the two have run into a dukdalf.
The condition of the injured man is unknown.
