In Pakistan, at least 25 people died in three attacks on Tuesday, officials report. Fourteen people died in a suicide attack during a meeting of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) in the southwestern province of Balochistan, near the border with Iran. There were also dozens of injured people with that attack, seven of whom are seriously ready.

Another attack in Balochistan killed five people, while six soldiers died in a suicide attack on their base in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The militant group of Ittehad-Ul-Mujahideen Pakistan claimed the responsibility for the latter attack. For the other two attacks, no one has yet claimed responsibility.

Raw material, roads and infrastructure

Balochistan is the largest and most reasons -rich province of Pakistan, but also the poorest. The BNP is campaigning for more autonomy and rights for members of the Baloch ethnicity.

Since 2014, China has invested considerably in the construction of a road and infrastructure project in Balochistan, in the context of the Chinese initiative that is internationally known as the new Silk Road. However, many Baloch say that only outsiders benefit from this.

Pakistani troops have been fighting a rebellion in the province for more than ten years. In 2024 the region saw a strong increase in violence, killing 782 people.
